See below a few pictures of some genetically pure wild Chinese painted quails (Coturnix chinensis), with no mutation inside (pure genotype).
They are young birds born in my aviaries in 2019 from my two breeding pairs.
Pure birds like these have become extremely rare in private collections.
The huge number of existing mutations and the lack of interest of the hobbyists/breeders caused that practically all the pure birds imported several years ago were hybridized/crossed with colour-mutants birds.
