Chinese painted quail (Coturnix chinensis), Black-breasted males.

The first specimens ever seen of “Black-breasted” males, those pictures were taken in May 2014, and then I took better shots in my “photo cage”.

Very unusually coloured females tend to regularly appear in the offspring of my “Black-breasted” bloodlines. There is an example of a “Grey bib” Red-breasted pearl female from 2019 :

This male comes from the same bloodline of the 3 birds I started with ten years ago!
